Amazon offers Music Cloud Storage

Posted by Tricia Status On March - 30 - 2011

Amazon makes a power move in the realm of music streaming by launching its Music Cloud Storage product “Amazon Cloud Drive.”  It can be used to store anything (music, video, photos, documents) up to 5 gigabytes for FREE (yea, Free).

Here are some of the benefits that Amazon Cloud Drive gives:

-You never have to worry about getting your files back if you’re laptop, mp3 player, drive gets lost stole or damaged.

-You can access your files from any computer - retrieve everything via your amazon account.

-Any music you buy from the amazon store will be stored for free. Meaning it will not count towards your cloud storage file limit.

-If you buy an album from the amazon store you will receive an extra 20 gigs of storage for a year. (Not freaking bad at all)

Learn more about the benefits of this new offering on their website: https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/learnmore

Black & Ugly Clothing Line drops

Posted by Tricia Status On March - 3 - 2011

On Feb 11, 2011 a bold new urban clothing line officially opened for business. Despite the connotations the name might bring to mind, Sherifa Gayle founder of Black and Ugly (BU), decided to flip negativity into something positive.

My aim is to spread positivism and make people more self-aware and prideful and most of all conscientious.

In my opinion Gayle takes a new approach to the way we approach and execute branding. In marketing, many hours and dollars are spent on gaining learnings through market research to find out how to get consumers to identify with their brand. The question, “How can we get our target market to ‘connect’ with us?” is debated.  Slogans, Logos, and Mascots are created. Tiered approaches involving display, SEO, social networking, direct mail, etc are implemented. Choosing the name Black and Ugly is asking the consumers to transcend the brand. Gayle wants those who wear the apparel to collectively disagree with being labeled as Black and Ugly and see themselves in a positive light – Young Gifted and Black.

If you’re proud to BU, purchase a Black and Ugly item today!

Saw these headphones in INC magazine and just had to share. If you live on the East Coast, winter is NOT over, and we may need a pair of these to warm up. They are crocheted headphones and can be found on a site called Uncommon Goods. According to to the site:

Warm up to new music with these charming, nubby headphones. Handmade by artist Traci Medeiros-Bagan, its sweet design recalls vintage crochet with a modern twist: beneath its yarn are high-tech headphones ready to plug into your on-the-go playlist. Highly unique and practical, you’re sure to stand out from the crowd with your taste in musical gear. Handmade in California.

Must Try: GetGobbler Music Production organizer

Posted by Tricia Status On February - 24 - 2011

So I work with a producer who makes way too many songs a day, and doesn’t have a formal way to organize his productions. Digital music news reported today that a new production organizing platform called Get Gobbler was released. They described it as “Dropbox on steroids for musicians.” I went to the GetGobbler website where they explained:

Just set it and forget it. Never lose a project again.

Gobbler knows when you’re working on a project. It automatically detects and backs up changes to the cloud as they happen so you never lose data. You can even go back in time to restore an earlier version of your work.

Whether your project is on a local hard drive or an external one, Gobbler will make sure that it’s backed up – even if you move the drive between different computers.

If you are a producer that needs help organizing your work, try this. Let me know if it works for you!
