The Fabian Castanier Gallery is having a solo showcase of British pop art Sensation Maximilian Wiedemann called “Pump Up The Valium.” The exhibition will also feature a range of mixed media on canvas, silkscreens, neon sculptures, stenciled artworks and several spectacular installations. Wiedemann will also be incorporating 25,000 pills into his works. According to Wiedemann:

“It’s about pills, and beauty, and vanity, and women taking blades to their faces”

So I thought I’d post this contest because a lot of people say/complain that Hip Hop is dead. In my opinion, Rhythm and Blues  has been 6 feet under for a LONG time. Essence and Music Icon Pebbles, however, are about to resurrect the genre. The two parties are teaming up to find the NEXT R&B star. Starting March 19th, Rhythm and Blues hopefuls can register at Essence.com/RBStar to enter their contest. The winner of the contest will receive:

• 1 year artist Management with KWL Enterprises (Kevin Lile’s group)
• Featured in an upcoming issue of Essence
• Opportunity to perform at 2011 Essence Music Festival

In person auditions will be held in NY, ATL, & LA. You may also submit entries online if you are unable to attend.

During the last few months, we here at Encore Status have been blessed with the opportunity to network with many individuals in the music industry. I personally had the opportunity to speak with one of the Disco Twins. Spinning and making musical compositions since 76′,  the Disco Twins produced foundational pieces to hip hop and were pivotal to the growth of the genre as a whole. Attention Unsigned artists across the U.S.!!! Ford has created a campaign to promote the 2011 Ford Fiesta and undiscovered talent. According to AutoRemarketing.com

Unsigned musicians throughout the U.S. are currently able to submit performance videos to the Gimme the Gig website where fans can watch and vote on their favorite acts.

There is some sort of tour associated with it where artists get to perform in towns where there are Ford dealers located in different parts of California. It is called the Ford Fiesta Lounge Tour. If you are an unsigned artist…I would check this out. If you know an unsigned artist that might be interested, pass this info on.

In this truly immersive experience, audience members are thrust into a beautiful and terrifying dreamscape of neo-Victorian elegance and phantasmagoric clockwork horrors. Once inside, audience members are separated, until one by one, they find themselves alone, lost somewhere within the three sprawling floors of Abrons’ majestic century-old playhouse. From there, they must choose where to go, exploring innumerable twisting hallways, looming balconies, and labyrinthine cellars. All the while, a whirlwind of mechanical apparitions, wraithlike sleepwalkers, and gear-powered beasts hurtle through corridors and lurk behind every corner and within every room.
