Poll: Celebrities and their drug use

Whitney Houston by tm_10001

I actually sat through most of the Temptations movie that aired on Vh1 (all 4 hrs of it). I know this movie came out a long time ago, but I was taking it easy this Sunday…so I said why not. It was very alarming how hard some of the members DnD’d (Drank and Drugged). For some it lead to death. For others it lead to missed opportunities in life.

One thing that struck me was seeing how one of the members of the Temptations ( notorious for being strung out on drugs), was always welcomed back without even a mention of the wrongs he did to the group because of his addiction. I immediately thought about Whitney Houston sadly. Every one is cheering for her even though she continues to wax and wane between soberness and hotmess-ness. Just when we think she’s got it under control…we see evidence that she’s lost it again. We’re still praying for you Whitney because we know recovery is a long road. I just wonder if she’ll ever regret what she let drugs do to her. My cousin thinks that she’ll do what most celebrities do – jot it down as “learning lesson” or “learning experience” when it should be a lot more than that…What do you think? I’ve gotten into many bitter battles with my friends about mainstream artists that a lot of people love that music hate. Many of these artists, according to my friends, were supposed to be one hit wonders…but they are still here. So I ask you, of the artists below, who will be relevant in 5 years? Feel free to comment below as to why.

23/05/10-Michael Jackson-by Charlotte Astrid

In an unprecedented move Tommy Mottola will exhume Michael Jackson’s recently buried body, in preparation for one last concert tour. “Mike was the consummate showman. His life was on that stage. Just because his life is over, doesn’t mean the King of Pop’s story is over. His death should be on that stage as well.” Upon news of what has been named the “Dead Man Moonwalking Tour”, the media went into its typical feeding frenzy. A young man has stepped forward and claimed that Michael Jackson groped him during a rehearsal. The allegations were summarily dismissed.

The tour which will span 87 countries is expected to net over 2 billion dollars in gross revenue, which would mean another insurmountable achievement in the record books for Michael Jackson. “ The man just cant not make money. He’s a friggin cash machine. Singin and dancing niii-eeeegroes are always turning the next trend in music. Maybe reanimating dead stars is that next trend,” said Mottola.

The concert will be a spectacle, including a reunion number with the cast of thriller, 300 trained “Bubbles Doubles” monkeys with rhinestone gloves performing the moonwalk, and a host of celebrity duets with people who never met or respected Michael when he was alive. The specifics of how much will be squeezed from the “unliving legend’s” lifeless form are still sketchy however. Leaks have suggested that Jackson will be propped up by a pole stuck up his ass, with some arrangement of pulleys and treadmills under his feet so he can perform his signature moves. “In the age of Lip-Synching, we really don’t have to worry about vocals. I mean no-ones expected to sing and dance anymore.” “It will be incredible,” said Mottola while rubbing his bandaged wrist, his injury yet another bizarre development. Tuesday night during rehearsal, Jacksons gloved hand fell off on stage, prompting a brief but violent melee involving Mottola, a string of irresponsible opportunist parents, and an editor of a yet to be named tabloid. Mottola said laughing, “I guess we’re all still just trying to get our piece.” And when asked about Michael’s peace, “He didn’t have any before. Why would he get some now?”

*R.I.P. Michael. You were something bigger and brighter than all of us, and brilliance never goes unpunished.

Khia, Khia…Been a Bad girl video

Khia "Been A Bad Girl"

SOOOOO…I’m a month late with this review. To be honest, I’ve been trying to digest the commentary made by others to put some things in perspective. From a production standpoint, Khia’s video was pretty good. It was inexpensive but not ‘cheap’ looking. In terms of fashion, she went Gaga meets Ghetto… Peep the ring made out of the phone cord amongst many other obvious things.

What I’ve been noticing, as I read people’s comments, is that a majority of people still hate it. ‘Sit Down Khia’ seems to be the opinion of many. Of course, the subject matter portrays women in a negative light (what else is new!?). I think people just think she’s unattractive. If Trina or Nicki Minaj released the same track, I think the same people who think this video is trash would give it a standing ovation.

In my opinion, I think her music should’ve matured from her My Neck, My Back dayz… I wish she would rap about rap about something other than boning or getting boned. That’s asking a lot from a female rapper today. If you know any females that rap positive music (other than the ones featured on this site) please let us know.  Here is the video if you haven’t seen it:

Khia wants to be one of Wayne’s concubines?

Posted by goldchain On April - 5 - 2010

So while reading hiphopwired.com I found the following quote by Khia regarding Lil Wayne:
“I’m just letting him sow all his royal oats and have fun. I’m his biggest fan…I don’t want no babies I’m gonna let them have all the babies that they want. He’s the king, he can have all the wives that he can take care of….when you have as much money as Lil Wayne and Tiger Woods you can have all the wives that you want.”

I have some questions

Is this how most women feel?
Can rich dudes do whatever they want?
Has Khia lost it?

Chris Brown: “I Can’t Be an Underground Mixtape Artist”

Posted by goldchain On March - 13 - 2010

If you play the audio below Chris Brown is begging for his fans to bring him back. I thought he was already back with ‘I Can Transform Ya’? I guess a few stations out there are hanging firm to their stance on domestic abuse. I almost thought you were teflon since MTV and hot 97 were playing your stuff despite Oprah standing up against you. I guess I didn’t see the whole picture.

Mainstream: Beyonce and Lady Gaga

Posted by goldchain On March - 12 - 2010

Hey all,

I wonder what you think about Beyonce and Lady Gaga’s new video. In my personal opinion, I’m not sure Beyonce fits that style. Its nice to see artists reach out and do new things, but I think it would’ve been more effective if it was Sasha Fierce meets Gaga. What do you think?
