Anybody in the North East know that ITS COLD outside. We decided to warm things up by shouting out some talent out of the south for our first post of the year. Mizzori, is a member of indie label Pyramid Kings Entertainment. Originally from Burlington County, NJ, he is currently tearing up stages all over Florida. Listen to his music and learn more about him below. Mizzori.
When did you get into music/rapping?
I started rapping at 9 years old. My mother always played music around the house growing up, so I’ve always been around music. My favorite record of all time is “Diana & Marvin” by Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross.
What artists did you grow up listening to?
I grew up listening to a lot of artists. The artists that influenced me most was Ice Cube, Redman, Barry White, Eminem, Jay Z, Nas, Talib Kweli, Outkast, Rass Kass and of course the Notorious B.I.G. I also like different types of alternative music such as the Gorillaz.
I really love their music!
What is your relationship with Nes and Young Mo of Summa Cum Loudly (SCL Productions)?
I linked up with SCL productions about a year ago. Summa Cum Loudly is an up and coming artist management/music production company founded by Nes and Mo in early 2010. We all grew up together in South Jersey but made it to Tampa for different reasons. I made a couple of tracks for Young Mo in the past, but as soon as he moved down last January, it was only right we worked on a concept project together. Nes was just finishing his MBA from FAMU so he stepped up and has been helping me with all management, strategy, and execution. Thus a few stars were born!
How did you come up with the name “Paranormal” for the EP?
Well I came up with the name “Paranormal” because it describes my life at this point. Still being independent feels like I’m stuck in the middle. Amongst myself, my camp, and my current fans the potential is very bright. Yet in reality I’m stuck between being undiscovered and being recognized as a major staple artist. Even with the transition, my work ethic now is fueling the energy needed for the grind that comes with getting to that point. The music I create comes from all the different obstacles I’m faced with in between me getting to that point. For instance, my last song on “Paranormal” is called “Go Into the Light.” It’s about a person whose body has passed yet his spirit is still here to finish his job in order to get to heaven. It’s metaphoric for my transition from being classified as an “Unsigned Hype” to being recognized as hip hop’s “2011 Freshman of the Year.”
Besides the EP what other projects, shows, etc could we expect Mizzori to be apart of?
After this EP is finished, I will continue to do classic hip hop music for the purpose of making Pyramid Kings Entertainment global. As a CEO, I have other young and upcoming artists coming out under Pyramid Kings. Shaq D, for instance, is a very talented rapper/producer who has done production for me in the past. Next there is Epocalypse who is also Co-CEO of Pyramid Kings Ent. He will be releasing his “Enubis” album in the 1st Quarter of next year. In 2011, I will continue to work hard, network with the streets and industry, and gain greater visibility for Pyramid Kings Ent. and Summa Cum Loudly (SCL Productions).
