Vote in the 312 Master of Cermonies Battle

Posted by Tricia_Status On October - 17 - 2010

Hey All,

Do312.com is holding a MC contest. One of the Contender’s is the one and only –the hip hop mad scientist himself, Alex Ludovico. Alex blessed us with a few tracks to drop a mixtape which will be entitled “Heat. Prey. Love” (coming Oct 25th). To get a taste of what’s on that mix, click here to listen to “Powerful As Can Be”, done over Kanye West’s “Power” instrumental from the mixtape.  You can also hear him crush a track called “The Medicine” and vote for him on the Do312 website.

Is there a difference between Style and Fashion?

Posted by Tricia Status On October - 14 - 2010

Kate Ross

According to Kate Ross, founder of ‘Distinguished Cravat,’ there certainly is a MAJOR difference between ‘Style’ and ‘Fashion.’ To quote her:

Fashions fade, Style is eternal…Style comes from within — Fashion, you can see on a mannequin.

The answer is simple, yet prolific to me as I figure myself out from day to day. In the video interview she gives to Swagger 360 (at the end of this post), she goes on to say that if you’re unhappy on the inside it will show through your style on the outside. If you don’t leave your house looking ‘distinguished’ and put together, you’re probably feeling like trash on the inside. Since I left college, I rarely leave the house looking distinguished. UGH.

Enough about me, I wasn’t drawn to Ross because she’s the fashion Dr. Phil. Her ties are sick!

Ross’ style is definitely unique, and so are the Cravats (french for bow ties) that she creates. Wearable by both men and women, these handmade pieces give your outfit a polished yet creative finish. Distinguished Cravat is ‘a brand that is for people, for purpose, for positivity.’

Encore Status: Deena Jonez

Posted by Tricia Status On October - 13 - 2010

DeenaJonez

With the recent explosion of Nicki Minaj it has become more and more apparent that the music industry has void that needs to be filled. I’ve seen a few underground female MCs that haven’t gotten the attention they deserve for a myriad of reasons. I personally believe its because even though they were talented, they weren’t naked enough — but that’s a controversial topic for another post.
I really hope this young, HARDWORKING, talented artist by the name of Deena Jonez can open peoples eyes. I got her mixtape ‘Memoirs of a Libra’ by email and was impressed by the Brooklyn native. She definitely Reps Kings County, BROOKLYN to the fullest with a futuristic and diverse approach. Her heart and soul is in every track. She just released her next album Kings County which didn’t disappoint us one bit.

@Tricia_Status of Encore Status interviewed her. Listen to the interview below and listen to a couple of her tracks from Kings County.

I go to Church almost every Sunday…I’ve seen people swept up into the Holy Spirit…but I’ve never seen anyone catch the Holy Spirit and started break dancing. Maybe I need to switch churches! – Enjoy

Heat, Prey, Love mixtape release Oct. 25th!

Posted by Tricia Status On October - 11 - 2010

Encore Status has been working with an artist from the Midwest by the name of Alex Ludovico on a Mixtape entitled “Heat, Prey, Love”. This artist reminds me of a scientist mad scientist. Every time he’s in the lab, he cooks up something CRAZY. This particular project was no exception. We gave him a few ingredients ( 5 mainstream instrumentals), and when he was done…he CRUSHED them, and 12 additional tracks.

We’re releasing one track off the mixtape. This one is called “Powerful As Can be.” (Done over the instrumental “Power” from Kanye West’s Album ‘Good Friday’.

Fashionably Scary

Posted by Tricia Status On October - 10 - 2010

Steam Punk Haunted House

Described by The Village Voice as ” So fashionable, it’s scary,” visiting the Steam Punk Haunted house exhibit sounds like a Halloween MUST. According to the Steam Punk Haunted House website, the following will occur at the event:

In this truly immersive experience, audience members are thrust into a beautiful and terrifying dreamscape of neo-Victorian elegance and phantasmagoric clockwork horrors. Once inside, audience members are separated, until one by one, they find themselves alone, lost somewhere within the three sprawling floors of Abrons’ majestic century-old playhouse. From there, they must choose where to go, exploring innumerable twisting hallways, looming balconies, and labyrinthine cellars. All the while, a whirlwind of mechanical apparitions, wraithlike sleepwalkers, and gear-powered beasts hurtle through corridors and lurk behind every corner and within every room.

Help Me! I can’t understand Lil B’s Bangkadang video!!

Posted by Tricia Status On October - 8 - 2010

While visiting some other blogs, I managed to find this video directed by Lil B. The video is called Bangkadang. I was lost on some inception tip with this one. Did he just show up to the museum and taped the exhibits — and filmed a little bit of him with a dragon head tie on? There must be a deeper meaning to this. He said I should go to Bangkadang.com (so ignorantly did), but the future “adult facebook” was under construction…Ok I get it. It was about sex…I think? someone please help. Video below.
