Homeboy Sandman at CMJ

Posted by Tricia Status On October - 28 - 2010

Homeboy Sandman

Encore Status has probably seen Homeboy Sandman perform on four different occasions: Blender Theater, The Annex, SOBs and now South Paw for CMJ 2010. When he released his latest album, The Good Sun,  I thought I saw him at his peak intensity level. SOBs rocked so hard it left everyone in awe, including Peter Rosenberg. At CMJ, he was just as intense. Check out this performance of The Carpenter…another hot track from his album:

Outasight at CMJ

Posted by Tricia Status On October - 26 - 2010

It’s probably been about 2 years since I saw Outasight perform. It was 2008, and I was standing next to DJ/Producer 6th Sense at a show at Public Assembly. I had never seen this guy in my life but he seemed like cool peoples. I introduced himself to him and told him about Encore Status. He informed me that his friend would be performing that night and I should stick around. I’m glad I did.

His friend, Outasight, is one of the most musically flexible artists I’ve seen. Whether its singing or rapping, he’s pretty good at both. At CMJ 2010, I got a chance to see his growth from 2008 in person. He has phenomenal  stage presence. Lyrics and Harmony…impeccable. The crowd loved his entire set.  The video below is his performance of Don’t say Anything .

My Manager caught me watching “Kill Your Co-Workers” Music Video

Posted by Tricia Status On October - 22 - 2010

Yikes. (True Story)

Its the end of day and I’m doing some work after hours (trying to rack up that OT dough ya dig?). I needed my manager’s help, but he was on a conference call. I decided to kill time (pun intended) and catch up on some blogs I like to read. The blog “Put Me On It” posted a new video done for experimental music producer, Flying Lotus. The video is fantastic, a mix of sketch work, Tetris-like people, blood blocks… Excellent/innovative idea. I get to the end of the video and the end frame says “KILL YOUR CO-WORKERS”. At that same moment (just my luck), my manager walks over to my computer. He backs up, crouches behind the door, and says…”..but I thought you just wanted to talk!” SMH.

Luckily, I’m not fired (at least, I’ll find out today).

.

Disclaimer: I would just like to note, I would NEVER Kill any of my co-workers. I love them to death.

Cilli Puddie encourages individuality

Posted by Tricia Status On October - 21 - 2010

cp Work

According to Cilli Puddie co-founder, Aamarii Williams, “If you can pick 3 things that normally deter people from chasing their dreams or true happiness, the words on the t-shirts are the most common answers…” If you are not familiar with his latest line of tees, he’s referring to CRITICS, LOVE, WORK… Werd son…I say forget all of them, right? No . Williams doesn’t necessarily mean to brashly blow critics, love, and work off. He really wants people to make sure those things don’t mold you.

“We decided to create this line we made sure we would send the message LOUD and CLEAR to everyone that’s listening. Never let anything interfere with your happiness, goals, or how you envision yourself. Mold Yourself! Everything and everyone around us has inspired the team to collaboratively create the clothing line.. We realized the market was craving for something that spoke to real issues, something that encouraged individuality, so we used our fashion sense to convey that using clothing as a vehicle.”

Cilli Puddie was founded in 2008 by a group of designers that wanted to make sure consumers remembered to express themselves. Silly Putty was something that allowed the user to be as imaginative as they wanted to be, using the clay as a vehicle for expressing themselves. After tweaking the Silly Putty to Cilli Puddie, they created a brand name whose goal is to remind us that we have a hand in creating our happiness.
