As we mentioned in the Final Outlaw post, Hip Hop Evolution was a fantastic event. Final Outlaw wrecked it with “Machine” then SleepWalkas came on and ripped it. This was my second time seeing this group perform. Each time they get on the mic they propel me to a whole ‘nother level of hype for hip hop.
A couple weeks ago, Encore Status made it to Hip Hop Evolution 3. It was definitely a great show. The love for Hip Hop at Soapstone gallery was so intense you could feel it. Final Outlaw performed and crushed it. He performed a some “old” stuff and new song from his up coming project Unstoppable Love. In the video below he performs “Machine,” a song that will be on that album. He will be shooting a video for the song with Janelle Ryan in September. (P.S. they are still casting so if you are interested please hit her up).
With that said, I go to a lot of baby showers (sigh). I’m always stressed because I can never find the “perfect” gift. I’d use the “registry” …but who am I Santa? Making me lists and what not. Yesterday, however, I found THE perfect gift. With yet another god child on the way (he will be number 4), I’ll get these bad boys and play him all the music on my ipod (and I mean all of it).
.
Tito…you wont be born before Kanye album drop, but don’t worry…Imma play it for you on the belly bud. (Explicit version when your mommy sleeping….shhhhh)
My father can’t grow a lick of facial hair. Because he cant grow hair on his face instead looking 50 sometimes he looks 15 (I may be exaggerating…but he looks fairly young). Fashion designer Taraduff has solved my dad’s problems (I think). Please take a look at these bearded beanies and lumber jack hats. Thanks! My dad really needed this o_0
Hey,
This video came out a while ago, but I was inspired to put this up after CNN money put out some alarming numbers. According to CNN, “Existing home sales sank 27.2% in July, twice as much as analysts expected.” Home sales were apparently at a peak in April because home buyers were rushing to take advantage of the 8,000 dollar tax incentive that would not be available at month end. Now thats its over, “sales are 34% below April’s tax incentive-induced peak.”
Sucks.
Most people must be renting now, I guess. The video below by Kyle Rapps ft KRS ONE is so fitting for people who are in the situation where they must rent. Times are HARD. The last thing we need is for Landlords to raise the rent.
I actually sat through most of the Temptations movie that aired on Vh1 (all 4 hrs of it). I know this movie came out a long time ago, but I was taking it easy this Sunday…so I said why not. It was very alarming how hard some of the members DnD’d (Drank and Drugged). For some it lead to death. For others it lead to missed opportunities in life.
One thing that struck me was seeing how one of the members of the Temptations ( notorious for being strung out on drugs), was always welcomed back without even a mention of the wrongs he did to the group because of his addiction. I immediately thought about Whitney Houston sadly. Every one is cheering for her even though she continues to wax and wane between soberness and hotmess-ness. Just when we think she’s got it under control…we see evidence that she’s lost it again. We’re still praying for you Whitney because we know recovery is a long road. I just wonder if she’ll ever regret what she let drugs do to her. My cousin thinks that she’ll do what most celebrities do – jot it down as “learning lesson” or “learning experience” when it should be a lot more than that…What do you think? Take the poll below and/or click here to comment.
I’ve gotten into many bitter battles with my friends about mainstream artists that a lot of people love that music hate. Many of these artists, according to my friends, were supposed to be one hit wonders…but they are still here. So I ask you, of the artists below, who will be relevant in 5 years? Feel free to comment below as to why.

Every once in awhile you’ll find an artist whose talent is so raw yet rich, you have stop what you’re doing? You just have to sit there in awe, because what you’re hearing is something more than “potential”…you’re hearing destiny. When I heard The Kid Gashi‘s demo, I felt this very way. I didn’t know much about Gashi until after I interviewed him. By the end of the call, “The Kid” was able to convince me that this was more than just a phase, and his talent will evolve season to season. This Albanian-African born artist reppin’ Brooklyn will be a force to reckon with we guarantee it!…Listen to his tracks and our interview below. ‘No Shortcuts’ and ‘In My Life Time’ are off of his demo. He also has a single called No Coming Back featuring Nipsy Hussle (video is below player).
