There’s no doubt, Chelley Universe is the next hot artist fresh off the mic. Don’t let the pretty face fool you; her sound is original and vibrant, demanding the attention of all listeners. Unlike many female artists that have waved our radios, videos and mp3’s in the past, Chelley is not going for the hardcore, bad girl image. She is all about a good time, being true to herself and the music she makes. This alone, is what allows her to stand out in the crowd. I myself am tired of hearing about “I’m the baddest…” “I got the ill nana…” and “Can’t nobody do it like me…” lyrics that should be left in the past. Chelley breaks through with a new representation that we seem to lack in many of our Black female artists of today.
Her already famous single, “Took the Night” has all of the commodities of a hit. The rhythm and bass of the track is sure to leave all the dance floors jam packed and all the ladies feeling like stars. The lyrics are fun and up-tempo. Her voice is one of a kind and energetic and her style is sweet, chic and fashionable. New singles, “Text Message” and “Flawless” are two more tracks that deserve immediate recognition. Chelley’s melodic voice and soft tone in “Text Message” will leave you singing along with her.
Overall, when it comes to this vocalist and her work, originality is her talent, her swag, confidence and voice are all add to her hip hop approach. So, the next time you are on YouTube or MySpace, look up ya girl, Chelley, you will not be disappointed.
If you play the audio below Chris Brown is begging for his fans to bring him back. I thought he was already back with ‘I Can Transform Ya’? I guess a few stations out there are hanging firm to their stance on domestic abuse. I almost thought you were teflon since MTV and hot 97 were playing your stuff despite Oprah standing up against you. I guess I didn’t see the whole picture.
I wonder what you think about Beyonce and Lady Gaga’s new video. In my personal opinion, I’m not sure Beyonce fits that style. Its nice to see artists reach out and do new things, but I think it would’ve been more effective if it was Sasha Fierce meets Gaga. What do you think?
