Maybach BAN! 2011

Posted by Shapel On June - 26 - 2009

Hip Hop Prognosticator: Maybach Ban. April 22, 2011

Maybach 57 by stephenhanafin

Maybach 57 by stephenhanafin

In response to recent E.P.A. reports, congress has passed a comprehensive ban on Maybachs due to their lack of fuel efficiency, and subsequent contribution to the Armageddon that is global warming. Hip-Hop stars across the nation have spoken out in protest, buttressed by strong support by urban blacks. Khalil Ramsey, a.k.a “Kingz Burow” was among the agitated. “I mean, really, MAYBACHS?!??! I was just put on, and you know, ‘bout to get that Maybach paper, and now this??!?! You grow up in the hood, and you’re on your grind, like one day, I’ma be sittin’ plush and whatnot, cop some 38s, and be on the block like YEAH, Y’ALL NIGGAHS THOUGHT A PIMP AINT HAD IT IN ‘IM!!! Now this??! As far as I’m concerned this is just disenfranchisement. What can a kid look forward to if not being posted up in a jet black Maybach with screens in the steering wheel???” Young Jeezy was equally nonplussed by the move. “My president is a biatch. That green shit is real wack in the game. I’m keepin’ my shit.”

Sociologist and noted academic Dr. Aria U. Sehriuss criticized the response from the Hip-Hop community but said it’s not surprising. “Environmental issues have long been neglected by the hip-hop community who find that it either has little bearing on their day-to-day lives, or falls behind other more pressing concerns that affect the black community like joblessness and education. What they don’t understand is just how much this issue is their issue. A strained ecosystem makes food production more difficult and consequently more expensive. When that costs gets bumped down to consumers, what communities do you think will be most affected? Yeah. Ours. Pollution related illnesses like asthma, rising rates of infectious diseases related to temperature increase, more and more cancer cases…these will all tax an already taxed healthcare system! Who do you think is going to get the worst of it? Sue Ellen and Todd with the comprehensive healthcare plan?! Or Tamika and Keenan in the crowded ass clinic??!! I would mention how global communities of color in developing nations get it the worst sooner than everyone but hey, since when do we care about niggers in other countries, right?? I don’t even know what to say anymore. And besides what the F*&K do we need Maybachs for anyway??? Y’all niggers be killing me with this ignorant ass shit.”

Power 105 is reportedly organizing a protest of Congress’ decision and expects a substantial turnout.

Tamar Kali…her life…her music

Posted by goldchain On June - 15 - 2009

She struts on stage like a Brooklyn OG. The music unmistakably rock yet the vibe is strangely hip-hop. She dances to her music in a trance like state with a sensuality and sexiness that belies her punk rock image. Her music and her presence overwhelm the senses and intoxicate the mind. Her voice and swagger bring to mind the glory days of Grace Jones and Nona Hendrix. There is no one like Tamar Kali! …

We loved her so much we just had to interview her. Listen as ‘The People Have Spoken’ from Encore Status gets to talk to Tamar and step in the her life…mind…and her music

Soular235 is Encore Status

Posted by Blkbarbi3 On June - 14 - 2009

soular 235

Christian Bindah aka Soular235 calls himself a Lyrical Philosopher. “Now my goal is to educate this world to the best of my ability through my own personal experience. Since this game is changing, in my heart I know I can make a difference. I vow on my soul. I will never give up until the gates of heaven open up, god himself calls me out.”

Wow, I believe I could give him credit on the title Lyrical Philosopher just on that quote alone. Soular235 was born in Queens Bridge, NY but soon relocated to the borough of stars like Jay Z, Biggie and many more in Brooklyn, NY. This artist is lyrically amazing and in every song I listened to. He was able to give me a vivid visual of his life in many ways. With over 30,000 mix cd’s Soular235 is destine for greatness, this artist right here is one in a million, honestly.

Check his Myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/soular235music) out he has over 3 million plays…it’s obvious I’m not the only one that’s in love with his music. He has a song called “see you smile” which is definitely a hit. This song is soft and sweet, will have the ladies feening for more. Play this song in the car with your baby right next to you and look at him or her and smile.

I love it when a rapper can be soft and gentle then become edgy and get serious because that shows diversity. For instance, his song call “For my People” is totally opposite from the song “See you Smile”. This song like most of his songs is a lyrically conscious song. Lyrics like “fight for my people, still have the heart to die for my people.” Expressing how people in the common background and socially standing situation have to stick together instead of fighting. He understands and preaches why it’s important to work as a team rather breaking others down because that doesn’t get you anywhere. How many rappers you can say spit real knowledge and not garbage right now?

His song, “By Hurting you” was a song that hit home to me. Talks about the struggle and the pain of not wanting to wake up in the morning because you know it’s going to be like any other morning; tears and frustrations. “Dear lord, I feel like no matter how hard I try to become a better person, I always find myself going in that same circle full of hatred of frustrations, give me strength.” His chorus was a great sample from the song “Hurt” by Christina Aguilera which was a beautiful touch. The lyrics in this song, just like the others, are no joke! “I wonder if they know my tear is glory.” I mean this cat gets better and better. Every time I think he can’t out do himself, he does! As I keep listening to Soular235′s myspace music page (repeatedly) he gives me this feeling in every track I listen to. Right when I think it can’t get any better it does and I love it.

Keeping Hip Hop Alive comes from individuals like Soular235, Do your thing boy!

Centipede E’est = Encore Status

Centipede E'est photo by Michael Siciliano

Centipede E'est photo by Michael Siciliano

Story by Michael Sciliano
After the collapse of a little known Western PA band called Boombox came the
rise of prog-rockers Zombi and the birth of Centipede E’est. These days
Zombi has a case of the-definitely-good-but-yesterday’s-news and Centipede
seems to be finally coming into their own. They were recently invited to
Chicago to play local band Cave’s record release show at the Hideout along
with Cacaw (think Angelhair meets Paperrad). Centipede E’est (pronounced
“East”) didn’t seem to be making any friends amongst the Windy City, but
they were worth taking of for their energetic live show and solid
performance which included a spot-on, high-energy cover of Love’s “7 + 7
is…” during which frontman Jim Lingo threw down his guitar and dove into
the crowd belting out Arthur Lee’s classic refrain of “Boo bip bip! Boo bip
bip! Yeah!” This show began their two week long tour that continues on
through the end of May. Beardos around the world rejoice, yet another band
has come to sing your songs and their name is Centipede E’est.

Jacob Mathew interview continued…

Dine by Jacob Mathew

Dine by Jacob Mathew

Are you trying to make a high end boutique speaker or something to put into the hands of the masses? I love your “Dance” model, I could see that being a big hit in the club scenes.

[JM]I seek to uphold the values of life in the works I create. If there
are particular designs that resonate more with people, then I work to produce them at a level that fulfills that desire. The Disco Speakers are an exciting addition to the collection. While
the ones pictured are for personal use, I have designs of larger
versions for music venues.

I am intrigued by the “Dine” model. Is this chair intended to be an actual functioning chair? Could you talk a little about your intentions with this one?

[JM] The Musical Chair is part of an exclusive one off set that was created to provide a soothing blend of sound and vibration. It incorporates a 100 watt 15″ calcium carbonate poly-coned woofer in the seat of the chair. Utilizing a unique compression loaded design, it features a 3/4″ acrylic top that can be adjusted to balance the acoustical (heard) output of the woofer with the tactile (felt) output of the
woofer.

Can you talk about some of the stumbling blocks you ran into when conceiving some of your models. I think my favorite design overall is your “Wine” model, but it looks like it could be tricky to manufacture. Do you intend for this to be a clear plastic, lexan or abs or something? I think it would look really stunning in a modern dining room setting.
[JM]Great works often appear to be almost effortless in appearance. In practice, this is rarely the case. Significant time and attention to detail have been necessary to develop my works to a justified level. The Wine Speakers have been created to provide a full bodied sound in a beautiful flowing design. In a ported wine enclosure, a 5″ copolymer coned woofer produces the rich lows, while a 1″ silk dome tweeter provides the smooth highs. Hand made cherry wood rails channel audiophile grade wire and dampen the tempered glass frame. This fluid design would make a beautiful edition to any dining
engagement.
